Adnams’ flagship hotel awarded 4 Red Stars by AA

The Swan Hotel, Southwold has been awarded another award - the prestigious accolade of 4 red stars from AA Inspectors. This award recognises hotels which stand out as the very best, regardless of their size or style, and that The Swan Hotel is again among the very best in the UK.

Liliane Aubourg, General Manager, (pictured), commented, “You always hope and wish for this award but only a select few hotels in England receive it, this genuinely meant the world to us all - I burst into tears of happiness when I first heard.”

The hotel, based in the coastal town Southwold, Suffolk is a 35-room hotel which underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2017. The renovations gave the historic building a new face lift and lease of life, offering the highest-class service in decadent surroundings.

The hotel is part of the Adnams estate, and benefits from having the Brewery and Distillery only a stone’s throw away and therefore the freshest beer on tap in the hotel, and some of the world’s best spirits. Visitors can enjoy a brewery or distillery tour, or even take the opportunity to make their own gin whilst staying at The Swan.

Nick Attfield, Director of Properties at Adnams, remarked, “The AA hospitality awards are probably the best known, most respected and widely recognised measures of hotel standards across the UK. I am so delighted and proud that our extraordinarily amazing team at The Swan have consistently exceeded the standards and expectations of the anonymous AA Inspectors’ visits to achieve this award, highlighting the very best of the best.”

Attfield added, “2020 has been one of the most difficult years ever for our industry, so this recognition comes at a perfect time to help us celebrate the great job our waiters, cocktail shakers, coffee makers, housekeepers, butlers, receptionists, decorators, gardeners, florists, receptionists, chefs, washer-uppers and managers continue do so well each and every day.”

The hotel is a sought-after destination for luxury breaks, with seasonal and local award-winning food served in the stunning Still Room or in the Tap Room. The Swan also offers private dining, special events and an exquisite afternoon tea.

The Swan has been involved in national campaigns such as ‘Escape the Everyday’ which saw Fred Sirieix enjoy a stay “for the best service, head to The Swan”, and it continues to receive rave reviews from customers and leading travel publications, including The Times and The Telegraph.
