City Catering to support thousands of children eligible for free school meals

City Catering is to act as one of key stakeholders in the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF), supporting thousands of children eligible for free school meals across Southampton.

The HAF programme has provided healthy food and enriching activities to disadvantaged children in Southampton since 2018.

City Catering will be supporting families this summer through its Lunch Crowd initiative. The Lunch Crowd initiative works in collaboration with activity partners by opening school kitchens at free-to-attend holiday clubs, to serve free, hot nutritious lunches to families.

Charitable impact manager Jessica Clasby-Monk said, “The funding this year is so very welcome to ensure that, across England, children eligible for free school meals, can not only access good food, but enjoyable and enriching activities too.

“We have working closely with partners over the recent months, and are so proud of all of our teams getting involved and cooking fantastic meals for the community.”

In addition to the meals served this summer, children will be able to take home recipe cards to explore healthy home cooking with their families.
