Criterion Capital has unveiled its second underground hotel concept in London’s Mayfair.
Located alongside some of the capital’s most prestigious hotels, Zedwell Underground Park Lane features 133 soundproofed “cocoons” beneath London’s streets.
It is Zedwell’s second underground hotel, following the 2023 opening of Zedwell Underground Tottenham Court Road.
Recently, the hotel brand opened a “capsule” hotel in Piccadilly Circus, London, featuring 1,000 smaller-format pods starting at £30 per night.
Zedwell Underground Park Lane features the group’s signature “cocoons,” with rates starting from about £150 per night.
Each room features ambient lighting, purified air, and body-cushioning mattresses.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the hotel features low-energy lighting, efficient building systems, and long-lasting materials.
The hotel also offers automated self check-in kiosks and a co-working space with views over Hyde Park.
Halima Aziz, head of hotels at Criterion, said: “Zedwell is built around one simple idea: delivering great sleep in unbeatable locations at an affordable price point, democratising access to city centres and luxury neighbourhoods like Mayfair. Zedwell Underground Park Lane exemplifies our brand values and our ability to unlock complex urban sites to create value in the heart of the city.
“This opening reinforces our commitment to high-quality design, operational excellence and exceptional customer service, while continuing to scale the Zedwell brand in prime destinations.”
