Sonja Vodusek has stepped down from her position as managing director of the Peninsula London, marking her departure six months following the hotel's grand opening.
Before her departure, Sonja Vodusek served as the pre-opening managing director at the Peninsula London starting from February 2020. In this capacity, she was responsible for supervising the £1.3 billion construction project, managing the recruitment of 650 staff members, and facilitating the introduction of the prestigious Peninsula brand into the UK market.
Vodusek initially joined the Peninsula in 2010, assuming the role of hotel manager at the group's New York property. Her tenure with the company spans an impressive 14 years.
Before joining Peninsula Hotels, Vodusek amassed 16 years of experience with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. Throughout her tenure, she worked across various locations, including the United States, Japan, Ireland, Australia, and the Czech Republic.
Rolf Buehlmann, formerly the general manager of the Peninsula New York, recently revealed on LinkedIn that he will assume the position of managing director at the Peninsula London.
With nearly 30 years of industry expertise, Rolf Buehlmann embarked on his career at the Hyatt Regency Xian in China. He subsequently ascended into directorial roles, including positions at the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai.
Buehlmann initially joined the Peninsula in 2010, assuming the position of Executive Assistant Manager at the Hong Kong Club. He then transitioned to roles at the Hongkong and Shanghai hotels within the Peninsula group. Afterward, in 2019, he returned to the Peninsula as Vice President of Rooms Operations and Quality.
The long-awaited 190-bedroom Peninsula London, which had been in development for three decades, finally opened its doors to guests in September 2023.
Brooklands by Claude Bosi, the flagship restaurant of the Peninsula London, swiftly earned an impressive two Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2024, shortly after its opening in February of the same year.
