M&S acquires new Food Marketing Director

M&S has appointed Andrew Hicks, a former executive at Woolworths Group, as the new Marketing Director for M&S Food.

Hicks, who will join the food and fashion giant on 1 September, brings over 20 years of marketing experience across Australia and South Africa. He most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer for Australia and New Zealand at retail firm Woolworths Group.

Prior to that, he held several senior roles within the company, including Director of Marketing for both the Woolworths Food Group and Woolworths Supermarkets, and General Manager of Marketing for the Woolworths Liquor Group.

Hicks is set to report to M&S Food Managing Director Alex Freudmann, with whom he has previously worked.

The appointment comes as the retailer, which has recently been contending with a cyber attack, announced in May that Sharry Cramond would move into the role of Marketing Director for Fashion, Home and Beauty.

M&S also recently strengthened its leadership team by hiring former Coles senior executive Thinus Keeve into the newly created role of Retail Director, a position he officially took up on 6 June.

Keeve is now responsible for all of the retailer’s stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland, as well as its central store operations.
