Birmingham-based events operator NEC Group has signed a long-term partnership with Levy UK + Ireland, the hospitality arm of Compass Group, to manage its food and beverage operations.
Under the agreement, Levy will take charge of all F&B services across NEC Group’s key venues. This will include the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), International Convention Centre (ICC), Vox Conference Venue, Utilita Arena Birmingham, and BP Pulse Live.
As part of the partnership, Levy will invest in enhancing the catering outlets, kitchens, and hospitality areas across the NEC Group. The collaboration will also strengthen Levy’s procurement and operational capabilities.
Additionally, 330 catering staff will transfer to Levy, where they will benefit from expanded training, career progression, and development opportunities.
This follows the NEC Group’s decision, around the same time last year, to partially phase out its Amadeus branding in order to concentrate more on its in-house catering operations.
Mel Smith, chief executive of NEC Group, said: “We are looking forward to working with Levy, a true leader and innovator within the food and beverage space, to further enhance our offering. Levy’s proven expertise in elevating guest experiences makes them the ideal partner for the NEC Group. We’re confident that partnering with them will further support our amazing colleagues, unlocking new opportunities for growth and ultimately improving our food and beverage proposition.”
Jon Davies, chief executive of Levy, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Levy to create truly memorable experiences for the millions of visitors that come through the NEC Group’s venues each year. Our plans to transform the offering will further enhance the guest experience and deliver world-class hospitality. We share a vision with the NEC to deliver exceptional events, and we are confident that our expertise and innovative approach will make that vision a reality.”
The terms of the agreement were not made public.
Blackstone acquired the NEC Group in 2018 from LDC, the private equity division of Lloyds Banking Group.
Levy manages operations at venues including Excel London, the O2, Edgbaston Stadium, and Aston Villa Football Club.
