BaxterStorey has been awarded Large Business of the Year at the British Business Awards, selected from eight shortlisted companies.
The awards ceremony welcomed nearly 2,000 attendees to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). This national, not-for-profit, cross-industry event, in partnership with NatWest, was hosted by comedian Rob Brydon and featured addresses from singer Sting and awards patron Sir Bob Geldof.
The event raised over £1 million for the charity Social Bite, while also celebrating businesses' accomplishments in innovation, leadership, ESG impact, and commercial success.
The Large Business of the Year award recognises the UK's leading large businesses, highlighting the achievements of both public limited companies and enterprises with a turnover surpassing £100 million.
While growth and commercial performance are key considerations, winners of this award are especially recognised for their contributions to job creation, fostering a positive company culture, and demonstrating social responsibility and excellence within their industry.
The judging panel, chaired by former Unilever CEO Alan Jope CBE, featured Ennismore founder Sharan Pasricha, Coutts Bank CEO Emma Crystal, Gleneagles managing director Conor O’Leary, and Mitchells and Butlers CEO Phil Urban.
In the past 12 months, BaxterStorey has increased its Net Promoter Score by 16 points and enhanced employee benefits, including extending maternity leave from six to 24 weeks. The company also earned the highest world-class status under the Institute of Hospitality’s Hospitality Assured quality standard, which evaluates processes, customer service standards, and employee engagement.
Ronan Harte, CEO of BaxterStorey, said: “This has been a truly special year for BaxterStorey, and winning at the British Business Awards is a powerful recognition of the passion and commitment our teams bring every single day. From growing valued partnerships and launching new recognition programmes, to a record number of apprenticeship graduates and unmatched job creation, our rock stars have driven progress across every corner of the business. Our food culture has never been stronger, and our social impact never greater. This award is for our teams, they are the heart of what makes BaxterStorey so special.”
Other winners on the night included the TEFL Org, Walker’s Shortbread, clothing brand Seasalt, and law firm Addleshaw Goddard.
